Deron continued the Point of Hope Foundation’s tradition of giving back over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2012.
Every year, Deron Williams’ Point of Hope Foundation holds a Christmas dinner for single parents and their children. In 2009, Deron and his wife Amy also invited wives of soldiers serving abroad and their kids, and wounded veterans and their families.
In 2009, Deron gave away a fabulous Christmas gift, which was won by Utah Jazz fan Jeremy Call: great seats at a game and a designer watch.
Deron presented the inaugural Jerry Colangelo Award at a banquet at the University of Illinois in the summer of 2009. Colangelo made a surprise donation of $30,000 to Point of Hope, Deron’s Foundation, at the event as well.
As part of the Illinois Hoops Legends inaugural Jerry Colangelo Award weekend, Deron hosted a golf event and donated $50,000 to the I Fund Foundation. He also played a little pickup hoops with his fellow U of I alumni.
Deron’s third annual Point of Hope golf event built on the success of its predecessors, helping to raise money for charity.
